MUŻA

Malta’s National Community Art Museum

During the renovation process at Auberge D’Italie, the building which now houses Malta’s National Community Art Museum called MUŻA,  I was asked by the direction if I would be interested in photographically document the transition and possibly create aesthetically valid artworks in the process.  I paid two visits in all and the attached is a selection from the resulting collection.

It was a process of finding aesthetic beauty in an environment that would eventually house works by old masters and contemporary practitioners.  It is an attempt at connecting the remnants of the past to the alternative future of this art space.  A concept of “From Art to Art”.

It is at an essay in isolating segments from the somewhat chaotic renovation environment.  Segments that combine aesthetic properties together with signs of human intervention in the auberge’s physical reconfiguration process.
